Hermantown’s track phenom Martin Sleen stole the show at an eight-team invitational Thursday afternoon in North Branch, with the Hawks taking home first-place honors.
“Martin has been showing his athleticism in any event that we put him in, winning the 100m, long jump, and anchoring both the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relays,” said Hawks coach Tyler Homstad.
Strongmen Evan Senst and Aidan Adamski finished 1-2 in both the shot and discus.
Tanner Homstad won the high jump, finished second in the long jump, and had strong starts in both the 4x100 and 4x200 winning teams. And Zach Wunner won the 110M hurdles and placed third in the 300 hurdles.
"It is not just the guys who are winning their events, but the support guys that work hard for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th places that get us our points and make this team very fun to coach,” said Tyler Homstad. “I can't wait to see what we can do on a warm and sunny day.”
Hermantown will participate in meets on Tuesday in Grand Rapids and on Thursday in Esko.
