Eric Borndal on taking over as head coach of the Hermantown girls basketball program – "We are certainly in a time of change after losing an amazing person like Coach (Beth) Clark. She has done so much for this program and I've learned so much from her that Hermantown girls basketball can never be grateful enough. For our 2024-2025 team, we are very fortunate to have five seniors (Annika Nelson, Izzy Wojtysiak, Mikalya Sweeney, Hope Kohanski and Olivia Johnson) to lead the way. I expect them to continue to grow and show what this team means to them. When we combine them with juniors such as Bailey Hermanson, Aurora Decker and Danika Bolf we have some good experience coming back. We are fortunate to have a fun mix of athleticism and size and hope to capitalize on that on both ends of the floor, especially as we learn to play more with one another.
Our big goal early on is that when we step on the floor, we will be competitive. This starts with a mindset and hopefully, the results will follow suit. We want to know that it will be for the full 36 minutes when other teams play Hermantown. We have two tough away games to start the season, first at Cloquet this Saturday and then next Tuesday in Bemidji. It will be a great test to see where we are early in the season."
