Hermantown turned a lot of heads last Friday and Saturday when it put up an impressive showing against elite competition at the St. Michael-Albertville high school volleyball tournament.
The Hawks (16-3) fell to Minnetonka 2-0 and defeated North St. Paul 2-0 on Friday, before posting victories over Kimball 2-0 and Elk River 2-1 and losing to Rocori 2-0 Saturday.
"Overall, we played great," said Hermantown Coach Jessica Williams. "We broke our curse of losing both games Friday night and almost beat Rocori."
Claire Kaups is leading the Hawks in dig and kills, and her overall leadership on the court is impressive, Williams said.
"Gabi Arntson and MiKayla Sweeney also stepped it up this weekend," added Williams.
The Hawks will wrap up regular-season play Tuesday, October 15 in a 7 p.m. match at Cloquet (11-9).
"We are very excited for our match against Cloquet," Williams said.
