Hermantown Baseball

Hermantown will face Chisago Lakes in a Section 7AAA baseball elimination bracket semifinal on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Chisago Lakes High School Field.

The winner will advance to face three-time defending 7AAA champion Grand Rapids in the elimination bracket final immediately afterward.

Duluth Denfeld is the lone unbeaten team in the double-elimination tournament. On Wednesday afternoon, the Hunters will face either Hermantown, Chisago Lakes, or Grand Rapids for the section championship.

The Hawks (8-9) defeated Hibbing 2-1 in an elimination bracket quarterfinal Saturday at Wade Stadium in West Duluth, as junior righthander River Freeman limited the Bluejackets to only two hits. Jacob Evanson singled in Charlie Marchard with the winning run in the fourth inning. Cam Lukovsky had two hits for the winners.

Hermantown defeated Cloquet 6-3 in a 7AAA first round last Tuesday at Terry Egerdahl Field in Proctor, but fell to Duluth Denfeld 9-3 in a quarterfinal Thursday, also in Proctor.

The Hawks defeated Chisago Lakes 8-4 on May 17 at Mettner Field in Cloquet, have not played Grand Rapids this season, and are 2-1 against Duluth Denfeld, including 18-3 and 8-1 victories early in the regular season at Wade Stadium and the sectional defeat.
