Hermantown Baseball

Hermantown baseball coach Troy Warren on his team’s 2-0 loss at Proctor on Tuesday afternoon, throwing a curve ball at the Hawks' 3-0 start to the season, and looking ahead to games at Cloquet and Rock Ridge to finish a busy week of play: “I thought the game was a good old fashion pitcher’s duel between River Freeman and Nick Terhaar. A couple of the top pitchers in the area for sure. Both of them only gave up two hits. Both had 5 walks and they got their runs on an untimely error by us that unfortunately was all they needed yesterday. Both pitchers were amazing and fun to watch them work. Ethan McCubbin had our only two hits but we battled to the end, and Nick's pitch count got to his limit after one batter in the 7th. We made some contact but Proctor made the plays. I think Proctor is a good team and we will see what happens the next time we play them this year. Hopefully, we limit our mistakes against Cloquet, and will get the bats going right away. Our pitchers need to hit their spots and not walk anyone. The last game was close with them (a 2-1 Hawks’ win) so I expect the same Thursday. Then, on Friday, we face Rock Ridge at their beautiful new field.”
