Hermantown Cross Country

The Hermantown Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams are set to compete in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) 7AA Sectionals meet Thursday afternoon at Hibbing Golf Course. The girls race is set to begin at 1 p.m., with the boys race to follow at 1:45 p.m.

"Our boys and girls have both been working really hard this season. They're a really great group that have been positive and motivated to improve," head coach Maddy Armbruster said. "We've been pushing them in the last few weeks to get them as prepared as possible for sections this Thursday. They're ready to run fast and leave it all out on the course."

Consistently performing well for the Hawks this season have been freshmen Cooper Lucarelli and Ferrah LaLone, who earned All-Lake Superior Conference First Team accolades at the conference meet on October 10 at Grand View Golf Course. Coach Armbruster believes if the pair can perform well, they have a chance to advance to the state meet in November.

"We're especially excited to see how Cooper and Ferrah compete, as they have a chance to extend their season if they have good races," said Armbruster.

The state meet is set for Saturday, November 4 at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course.
