Boys Hockey

Top-seeded Hermantown will host North Shore in a Section 7A quarterfinal high school boys hockey game Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Hermantown Arena.

The defending Class A state champion Hawks are led by junior forward Dallas Vieau (team high 17 goals and 43 points), a Penn State commit, senior defenseman George Peterson (11, 37) and senior forwards Wyatt Carlson (17, 32) and Kade Kohanski (14, 28).

Hermantown is especially strong in goal, where senior Garron Opsahl (10-1-1, 1.11 goals-against, .942 saves percentage, four shutouts) and junior Dane Callaway (12-1-0, 1.69, .916, 2) have alternated all season.

Second-seeded Proctor/Hermantown (19-6-2) will face unranked Mankato East (20-6) at 11 a.m. Wednesday in a Minnesota Class A high school girls hockey quarterfinal at Xcel Energy Center.

1A semifinal games are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday, with the championship scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday. All games will be played at Xcel.

The defending 1A state runner-up Mirage feature a powerful offense led by junior forward Hannah Graves, who has a team high 35 points (14 goals), senior forward Reese Heitzman (team-high 18 goals, 29 points), junior Izy Fairchild (26 points) and senior forward Nya Sieger (24 points).

Ava Anick, an elite senior, anchors an experienced defensive group also led by seniors Sophie Parendo and Alyssa Yokom.

Proctor/Hermantown has received outstanding goaltending from sophomore Neelah McLeod (9-3-1, 1.95, .916, 3) and freshman Suri Langley (10-3-1, 1.62, .923, 3).
